Overview

LEF (An Nadwa Al Iktissadia Al Lubnaniya) was established in 1991 as a private non-profit organization seeking:

A concerted and equitable development of the national economy, based on the principle of promoting and protecting private initiative in an effort to develop work opportunities and provide safeguards for Lebanese manpower, which would help limit its immigration and enable it play a constructive role within the framework of a liberal economy.

Currently, LEF continues to play a leading role in representing the private sector within the Lebanese Economic Organizations (Al Haiaat Al Iktissadiah), with a membership base above one hundred successful individuals and corporations from the wide spectrum of business sectors in the country.

Objective

Active participation in all decisions related to social and economic
 Development;

Safeguarding and developing a liberal Lebanese economic system based on 
private initiative;

Developing and protecting the Lebanese economic potential internally and
developing and maintaining continuous economic relations with businessmen
of Lebanese origin abroad with a view of soliciting their assistance in opening
new and permanent markets for Lebanese products and encouraging them to
invest in new projects in Lebanon;

Organizing special economic committees to promote relations with the Arab
 countries and the European Union with the prime objective of opening new
outlets for Lebanese products and make best use of technical assistance opportunities.

Goals

The practical translation of the above objectives is to continuously ensure that LEF fuels a productive revolving cycle contributing to:

  • Economic benefits to its members on the individual and collective levels;
  • Positive welfare of LEF’s various stakeholders as a whole;
  • Tangible and intangible advantages to all sectors of the business community;
  • Constructive impact on the socio-economic situation of Lebanon in general.

Action Plan

LEF will continue its efforts towards realizing the following goals:

  • Undertake a leadership position on economic issues of national importance.
  • Initiate constructive results-oriented projects supported by international donors.
  • Contribute to leading economic/business events with quality participations.
  • Increase the number of active members on a highly selective basis.
  • Empower specialized internal working committees and lobbying groups.
  • Propose targeted business trips to countries offering attractive opportunities.
  • Systematically organize inspirational roundtables with leading personalities.
  • Hold frequent debates with prominent local and international decision maker.
  • Organize annual economic conferences and networking social events.
  • Produce regular ‘white papers’ and public statements on matters of concern.
